In his latest attack on fair and secure elections, Trump addressed the nation last week to give yet another televised speech full of false accusations to support his Big Lie. A shout-out to ABC, NBC, and CNN for not airing it.
I didn’t watch his speech because I don’t voluntarily subject myself to an onslaught of lies. But all the analyses clearly state that we learned nothing new. He didn’t present a single piece of new information. And we already knew Trump would try to meddle in the midterms.
Recycling disproven claims about an election that took place six years ago is a sign of weakness. He’s doing it because he’s angry about losing in 2020 and desperately concerned that Republicans will lose big in 2026.
Let’s be clear: American elections are already secure. A lie doesn’t become the truth no matter how many times a lie is told. No matter if it’s told on TV, on social media, or at a poorly attended rally. The truth remains. Your vote still matters, and it scares him.
Kamala Harris responded to his speech with a post on X, “The president is scared of your power, and he wants you to believe your vote does not matter. He wants you to lose confidence in our electoral system so you stay home this November. He knows how discontent the American people are, and he wants to make sure you do not vote. Because if the people vote in their numbers, Republicans will lose.”
